Dr. William "Bill" Fox joined the Texas Water Resources Institute in the summer of 2003 as a research scientist and provides leadership for the Rangeland Revegetation Pilot Project Federal Initiative for Fort Hood, Texas. The focus of the initiative is to develop best management practices for rehabilitating degraded rangelands used for military training exercises.
Fox is also active in the Institute's desalination program, providing leadership in the development of environmental programs for monitoring benefits and potential impacts in the use of treated brackish water. Initial emphasis is being placed on the desalination of brackish groundwater resources and the use of produced water from oil and gas production. In addition, Fox is assisting in the coordination of the 2003 International Conference on Agriculture Science and Technology Water Forum that will address the development of water resources for developing countries.
Fox earned his bachelor's degree in range science from Texas A&M University. He earned a master's degree in animal and range science from New Mexico State University and a doctorate in rangeland ecology and management from Texas A&M.
