Texas Water Summit: Focusing on Water for Agriculture and Natural Resources will feature a poster competition showcasing water resources research conducted by graduate students throughout Texas.
The summit will be held November 5-6, 2003, in Austin, Texas. This event is sponsored by the Agricultural and Natural Resources Summit Initiative, which is a joint partnership between the Texas A&M University System Agriculture Program and the Texas Tech University College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
Poster competition is open to graduate students enrolled in any Texas university studying issues related to water resources. Posters that have been presented at other meetings are eligible for this contest. Participating graduate students are entitled to free summit registration.
Cash awards for the poster contest are being provided by Haynes & Boone, LLP. They include: $250 (first place), $150 (second place), and $100 (third place).
Graduate students or faculty advisors should set up their posters before 8:00 a.m. on November 5. Judging will take place that afternoon from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Participants are asked to be at their poster during judging to respond to questions from judges and other attendees. Students are responsible for picking up their posters at the conclusion of the summit on November 6.
Due to space limitations, 40 posters will be accepted. Students wishing to submit posters for the summit need to e-mail their poster and contact information to Ric Jensen by October 30, 2003. At the time of competition, participants need to provide a printed copy of their poster.
If students have any other questions, contact Ric Jensen at the Texas Water Resources Institute at 979-845-8571 or e-mail rjensen@tamu.edu.
