TWRI-EarthKind develop partnership

The Texas Water Resource Institute (TWRI) and Texas Cooperative Extension’s Earth Kind Environmental Stewardship program recently joined forces through the adoption of a formal memorandum of agreement.

Earth Kind and TWRI will work together to investigate ways to further their common goals of increasing the public’s and specific stakeholders’ knowledge of environmental stewardship as it relates to urban landscapes and water resources.

“This is an important step in bringing more resources together to meet the challenges of creating a healthy and sustainable landscape environment,” said Dr. Don Wilkerson, professor and Extension specialist in Texas A&M University’s Department of Horticultural Sciences.

Dr. Allan Jones, TWRI’s director, agreed. “We want to increase our linkages with Texas A&M Horticulture because many of the most critical water issues in Texas involve urban landscapes and Texas A&M Horticulture is a recognized leader in developing and using plant materials to manage urban landscapes,” he said.
