As a Texas AgriLife Extension Service emerging technologies specialist, Amy Hays helps the institutes merge science, technology and learning methods by studying and implementing new technologies that will expand the reach of science to address natural resource issues. Hays specializes in helping researchers find ways to use information technology to reach the public. 

 She works across the Texas A&M University system, as well as with the eXtension initiative to support the Land Grant university mission of fostering the transfer of knowledge between the universities and the public.

Hays joined the Texas A&M Institute of Renewable Natural Resources (IRNR) at its inception in 2006. Previously she worked as a Texas AgriLife Extension Service program specialist in the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. She served as the state’s geospatial technology specialist from 2005 – 2008. Before coming to work for AgriLife Extension, Hays worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife as a natural resource specialist and later as farm bill coordinator.   

Hays received her bachelor of science in wildlife and fisheries sciences from Texas A&M University. She received her masters of science in rangeland ecology and management from Texas A&M University..
