As a research assistant for the institute, Kirby Young works on various watershed protection, management, and research projects with university faculty, state, local and federal governments and stakeholders, to address statewide water-related issues.
Young joined the Texas Water Resources Institute as a graduate research assistant in 2016. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in geosciences with a minor in Spanish from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in the Water Management and Hydrological Sciences program at Texas A&M University. Young is a certified Texas geoscientist-in-training and her research interests include hydrology, hydrogeology and water quality.
