Tad McCall

Tad McCall is a program manager for Texas A&M Institute of Renewable Natural Resources, supporting the Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Installations and Environment) Sustainable Range Initiative. He works to build landscapes of scale that protect the defense mission while protecting land use that is compatible with the mission of the Department of Defense. Keeping rural communities strong and preserving farms and forests are examples of land use that is compatible with the DOD mission. 

McCall has 45 years of experience in, or supporting, the federal government. He was deputy assistant secretary for environment, safety, and occupational health for the U.S. Air Force from 1994 to 2001 where he oversaw the land withdrawals for the Nellis and Goldwater Ranges. From 1986 to1989, he was the U.S. Navy legislative attorney with responsibilities for land withdrawals, including PL 99-606, which withdrew over 7 million acres of land at six military ranges. 

McCall is a retired Navy Captain, JAGC.

He has a bachelor’s in history from the University of Oregon, a J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law  and a LL.M. in ocean law from the University of Washington School of Law.
