Expertise: Examining the water use efficiency and above- and below ground growth of a variety of plants under multiple climate change scenarios, such as increased summer drought. Studying water run-off, water quality, root zone water movement and nutrient uptake within the soil-plant continuum in urban areas as affected by different pavement types. Investigating how soil water availability affects root growth dynamics (using the minirhizotron technique), soil respiration, plant water potential, gas exchange, and overall plant growth.
Water Resources Program Areas:
  • Climate Change
  • Water Quality and Watershed Protection
