The Texas Water Resources Institute, TWRI, is hosting a stakeholder meeting for local residents and stakeholders to contribute to the Davidson Creek Watershed Protection Plan April 29 in Caldwell.
The public meeting will be at noon at the Burleson County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Office, 1516 Fm 166 in Caldwell. Attendees should note that the extension office is no longer located at the county courthouse.

Improving water quality
TWRI invites local stakeholders to continue learning about and contributing to improving water quality in Davidson Creek. The Creek is a tributary of Yegua Creek downstream of Lake Somerville within the larger Brazos River watershed.
Anyone with an interest in Davidson Creek water quality should plan to attend the meetings and aid in the plan development process. This, and subsequent meetings, will serve as a public input forum. This input will inform the development of a voluntary, stakeholder-driven watershed protection plan, or WPP, for Davidson Creek to outline strategies that can improve local water quality.
The WPP will address known issues with water quality in Davidson Creek. Amanda Tague, TWRI Research Specialist, said “Water samples that the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and TWRI collected confirmed that the lower section of the creek is impaired due to elevated bacteria concentration and low dissolved oxygen levels.”
“The second meeting will recap what we discussed during the kickoff meeting on Feb. 19 and dive deeper into stakeholder organizational frameworks,” said Amanda Tague, TWRI research specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife Research in College Station.
Funding for developing the Davidson Creek WPP is provided by the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, through the State Nonpoint Source Grant Program.
TWRI is a unit of Texas A&M AgriLife Research that brings together expertise from across The Texas A&M University System.
