As a graduate research assistant for the Texas Water Resources Institute, Dhruva Kathuria is working on developing irrigation scheduling tools for the Rio Grande Basin by combining hydro-metrological data such as evapotranspiration, soil moisture and rainfall.

Dhruva is currently a working on his doctorate in biological and agricultural engineering. His research interests include improved water budget estimation using multiplatform data fusion/assimilation techniques and machine learning algorithms.

Prior to attending Texas A&M University, Dhruva received his bachelor’s in civil engineering from Punjab Engineering College, India and master’s in water resources and environmental engineering from Indian Institute of Science, India. While working on his master’s, Dhruva worked on uncertainty quantification in design hydrographs for urban water systems. He attended summer school in University of Stuttgart, Germany for water quality research.

Outside of work, Dhruva enjoys hiking and playing guitar.
