Davidson Creek watershed meeting set for July 1 in Caldwell

The Texas Water Resources Institute, TWRI, invites community members, landowners, and residents interested in local water quality to attend a public meeting for the Davidson Creek Watershed Protection Plan (WPP).

The meeting will be July 1 at 12 p.m. at the Burleson County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Office, 1516 FM 166, in Caldwell. RSVP to the event here. The extension office is no longer located at the county courthouse.

The latest in a series of WPP meetings, the events are valuable opportunities for local stakeholders to shape the future of Davidson Creek and to develop a voluntary, stakeholder-driven watershed protection plan (WPP) to restore water quality in the creek, said Amanda Tague, TWRI research specialist, Texas A&M AgriLife Research, College Station.

“Whether you're a landowner, resident, or just care about the health of our waterways, your input is essential,” she said. “This meeting will highlight how our land use impacts water quality and how we can work together to protect it.”

The meeting will briefly recap previous discussions and then dive into two chapters of the Davidson Creek WPP:

  • Watershed characterization, exploring the climate and landscape and physical characteristics within the watershed boundary.
  • Potential pollutant sources, linking land use patterns to potential sources of bacteria and other pollution.

The Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board provides funding for developing the Davidson Creek WPP through the State Nonpoint Source Grant Program.
