Sayd Randle, Ph.D., was a ethnographer, political ecologist and Texas Water Resources Institute research scientist with the Urban Water Innovation and Sustainability Hub at the Texas A&M AgriLife Center at Dallas. She previously held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Southern California and received her doctorate from Yale University's combined degree program in environmental studies and anthropology. Her critical social science research program uses urban water and energy systems as a terrain to explore the spatial and cultural politics of urban climate adaptation. She examines how efforts to make these networks more resilient to environmental stressors can transform material flows and urban lives, rearranging labor and power across the extended metropolitan landscape in the process. Her multi-scalar research highlights both the intimate and systemic effects of these shifts, with an emphasis on their environmental justice impacts. Her work has been published in a wide range of outlets, including American Anthropologist, City & Society, Critique of Anthropology, Environment and Planning E, GeoHumanities, WIREs Water, and the Los Angeles Review of Books.
