As a research assistant for the Texas Water Resources Institute, Sydney Beckner worked on an interdisciplinary team for the X-Grant Project entitled Pathways to Sustainable Urban Water Security: Desalination and Water Reuse in the 21st Century. 

For the project, Sydney conducted Q-Method studies in the two Texas study sites of San Antonio and El Paso. She has experience with the methodology and governance regimes in Texas from her master’s work on understanding the social perspectives on the Vista Ridge Pipeline. Sydney’s research interests include urban water security and environmental governance.

She holds a Master of Science in geography (2018) and a Bachelor of Science in environmental geoscience (2016) from Texas A&M University.
