The Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center Webinar is scheduled for March 12, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This virtual event aims to educate water leaders about flood management tools.
The webinar presenter, Sam Wallace, is a hydrologist at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Oklahoma-Texas Water Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas. Wallace’s interests include flood inundation mapping, surface water modeling, statistical hydrology and geophysics.
The webinar will provide an introduction to the Interagency Flood Risk Management Team (InFRM) and its Flood Risk Management Web Applications, including the Flood Decision Support Toolbox (FDST).
The InFRM team consists of several federal partnerships with the goal of leveraging skill sets, resources, and programs to determine the needs of communities, define solutions, and implement measures to reduce long-term flood risk throughout the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
The FDST is an interactive online application that provides data about the possible extent of flooding. The tool can also be used for flood risk assessment, visual representations of a flood’s extent and depth over the land surface and estimates of the economic impacts of a flood.
Attendee Information:
The meeting will be held via Microsoft Teams. Attendees can join via web browser, desktop Teams app, or official iOS or Android Teams app, but not from a mobile web browser.
