Xingmao 'Samuel' Ma, Ph.D., P.E., was a 2022 TWRI Faculty Fellow and is a professor in the Texas A&M University Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research interests span from studying the fate and transport of emerging environmental contaminants such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and micro/nanoplastics to developing effective treatment technologies for different environmental pollutants. He is actively exploring novel new materials and advanced oxidation/reduction technologies to address the widespread PFAS challenges and other pollution problems in U.S. water and soils.

Dr. Ma is a three-degree environmental engineer and received his Ph.D. from the Missouri University of Science & Technology. He has been an assistant and then associate professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale before he Joined Texas A&M University as a tenured associate professor.
