What does water security mean to you? In preparation for the publication of our winter 2020 issue of txH2O — a focus on the connection of water and health — we are highlighting the article Understanding water security.
From the fall 2017 Water Security issue of txH2O, this article contains research about water insecurity in the United States. From drought and population growth to flooding and climate change, experts agree — having decreased access to clean water is not limited to developing countries.
According to the article, various forms of water insecurity, such as water contamination and aging water infrastructure, are issues that scientists in Texas are researching, particularly in low-income communities.
