Earth-Kind landscapes workshop set for Milano Nov. 3

Earth Kind landscaping by AgriLife Extension

Milano area residents are invited to an Earth-Kind landscapes workshop Nov. 3, hosted by the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.

The workshop will be held 9 a.m. – 11 a.m., at 310 East Ave C in Milano. Registration is required at posgcd.org/event/ek-2311.

Earth-Kind Landscaping uses research-proven techniques to provide maximum garden and landscape enjoyment while preserving and protecting the environment.

“All local residents interested in having a beautiful lawn or landscape while also protecting our groundwater resources are invited to come out to this event and learn the easy strategies that Earth-Kind Landscaping teaches,” said Jaclyn Robertson, AgriLife Extension associate with the Post Oak Savannah Groundwater Conservation District and the Texas Water Resources Institute, College Station.

The objective of Earth-Kind Landscaping is to combine the best of organic and traditional gardening and landscaping principles to create a horticultural system based on real-world effectiveness and environmental responsibility.

The workshop will cover Earth-Kind Landscaping practices, including:

  • Landscaping for water conservation
  • Reducing fertilizer and pesticide use
  • Landscaping for energy conservation
  • Reducing landscape waste entering landfills

Individuals using Earth-Kind landscaping principles and practices can create attractive, easy-care landscapes while also conserving natural resources.
